Liverpool youngster Canos hoping to catch Klopp's eye

The Spaniard has enjoyed a brilliant loan spell at Brentford and has now set his sights on breaking into the first team at Liverpool.

Liverpool youngster Sergi Canos has told the Liverpool Echo he is looking to build on his successful loan spell at Brentford by impressing Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

The winger has enjoyed a sparkling season at Griffin Park, bagging seven league goals and four assists in 38 appearances, establishing himself as a firm fans favourite at the club, helping them to a ninth-place finish.

Canos, who was recently called up to the Spain under-19s squad, signed off his time in West London by finding the net again during the Bees' 5-1 win at Huddersfield on the last day.

The 19-year-old has also earned Brentford's goal of the season award for his impressive solo effort during the trip to Reading in December, leaving him determined to catch the eye of Klopp and force his way into the first-team set-up at Anfield.

And the Spaniard believes his successful loan spell away has given him a strong chance of earning a chance on Merseyside.

Canos told the Liverpool Echo: “I wanted to show Klopp that I’m ready to play for Liverpool and every day is a challenge so I learn this and I think I can take it.

“After every game of Liverpool, Klopp gives a hug to every single player – I want to be one of them, it’s my dream.

“When I was at Barca, I saw the quarter-final between Malaga and Borussia Dortmund, and I saw Klopp on the bench for Borussia and I was like ‘I hope one day I can work with Klopp’.

“I have the chance and I want to make it.”
