Ray Wilkins suggests David de Gea will be key for Manchester United against West Ham

Ray Wilkins On Pitch

West Ham United and Manchester United will face each other in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Former Queens Park Rangers and Rangers midfielder Ray Wilkins said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 9) that David de Gea will be a key player for Manchester United against West Ham United on Tuesday evening.

United will take on West Ham away from home at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League.

Wilkins believes that Spain international goalkeeper De Gea will be very important for the Red Devils if they are to win in London.

“Now they have got a fantastic chance of overtaking (Manchester) City and going all the way, but they have been so hit and miss this year that we don’t really know what team is going to turn up at the Boleyn, to be perfectly honest,” said the former Chelsea and United midfielder on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 9).

“If the team turns out, I have got a little feeling they are going to rely on the person that has kept them in that top echelons of teams, is the goalkeeper. I think he has been absolutely outstanding.”

De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and has been in brilliant form this season.

The former Atletico Madrid star has been United’s best player this campaign, and he will be important against West Ham on Tuesday evening.

The 25-year-old has kept 15 clean sheets in 32 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils this season, making 2.31 saves per game on average and 2.64 saves per goal on average in the process.
