Could Liverpool striker Christian Benteke make a controversial Merseyside switch to Everton this summer?
Bookies Ladbrokes have halved the odds on a transfer over the past 24 hours, cutting the price from 12/1 to 6/1.
Benteke signed for Liverpool from Aston Villa last season but has struggled to win a first team place under manager Jurgen Klopp, and is expected to push for an exit this summer.
Everton have recently received investment from Iranian billionaire Farhad Mohisiri, who could help bankroll a move.
Just as controversially, odds have been cut on former Reds boss Rafa Benitez making a switch, with the Spaniard expected to leave Newcastle United if they are relegated, with prices changed from 10/1 to 7/2.
A further twist on this is that Everton could relegate Newcastle on Wednesday night - if they lose away to Sunderland.
Dave Burin of Ladbrokes News told HITC: “It’s looking ever more likely that Benitez will risk his legendary Liverpool status with a move across the city while Benteke could well swap red for blue to revive his career.”
Benteke moving to Everton could spark Romelu Lukaku's departure, with his fellow Belgian international linked with a return to Chelsea by The Metro among others last month.
