Micky Hazard suggests Tottenham's Ryan Mason could leave

White Hart Lane

The 24-year-old has started seven Premier League games for Spurs this season.

Speaking to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur legend Micky Hazard has suggested that Ryan Mason's Spurs future hinges on whether he impresses in pre-season.

The 24-year-old midfielder has made 21 Premier League appearances this season, but only seven of those were from the start in a campaign which has seen him loiter on the periphery of things, with the emergence of Eric Dier and Dele Alli, either side of the brilliant Mousa Dembele in midfield, leaving little room for the local lad.

Indeed, it has been a testing season for the one-time Engand international - who made 29 Premier League starts last term - and speculation has mounted that Bournemouth may be interested in luring him to the Vitality Stadium this summer (The Standard).

Given his low-profile campaign, manager Mauricio Pochettino may well be looking to replace him with somebody who stands more chance of breaking back into his first XI, thus improving the squad.

Yet Hazard has suggested that he does indeed have a future in North London, but only if he impresses the Argentine boss this summer.

"The great thing about Ryan is that he backs his teammates, he backs the club and wants it to be successful, even if it's at his own expense," he told ESPN.

"That's an unbelievable attitude. He's got a future at the club but it depends on having a fantastic preseason and forcing his way back in."
