Lee joined Colchester on loan from Premier League outfit West Ham in the January transfer window.
Now that the season for the U’s is finished, the 21-year-old has taken to Twitter to express his appreciation of the club.
Lee has taken to Twitter to wish the club the best of luck for bouncing back to the third tier of English football at the end of the 2016-17 season.
Would like to say a massive thank you to all @ColU_Official for my time there. Sometimes you don't get what you deserve in football..1/3— Elliot Lee (@ElliotLee9) May 9, 2016
But I have enjoyed some of the best football of my career so far at Colu and have loved every minute playing with a great group of lads! 2/3— Elliot Lee (@ElliotLee9) May 9, 2016
I wish them all the best in the future and hope to see them get back up next year! @ColU_Official 3/3— Elliot Lee (@ElliotLee9) May 9, 2016
Now it's time to relax... Been a long, frustrating, enjoyable, up and down, successful season!… https://t.co/gdFcERL4U5— Elliot Lee (@ElliotLee9) May 9, 2016
It will be interesting to see what West Ham decide regarding the future of Lee, who is out of contract in the summer.
The 21-year-old is a very talented striker, but he has not been able to make a huge impact for the Hammers’ first team.
