Shelvey

Jonjo Shelvey joined Newcastle United from Premier League rivals Swansea City in the January transfer window.

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam suggested on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5 live Sport on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, May 9) that Jonjo Shelvey will be disappointed with his current situation at Newcastle United.

Shelvey joined relegation candidates Newcastle from Premier League rivals Swansea City in the January transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, the Magpies had to pay as much as £12 million as transfer fee to sign the former Liverpool midfielder.

Much was expected of the England international when he arrived at St. James’ Park, but Shelvey is struggling to get into the team at the moment under manager Rafael Benitez.

Stoke midfielder Adam has suggested that the former Charlton Athletic midfielder will be disappointed with his current situation at St. James’ Park.

The former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder has also asked where this leaves Shelvey in terms of his future at Newcastle.

“Jonjo Shelvey, Rafa obviously doesn’t fancy him, he has come in, they spent a lot of money on him, but how does that go for next season?” said Adam on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5 live Sport on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, May 9).

“Jonjo will be disappointed that he has been left out. Where does that take him?”

Shelvey has made 14 appearances for Newcastle this season, creating 18 chances in the process.

The England international midfielder has a pass accuracy of 80% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and has won five headers, 10 dribbles and 19 tackles.
