The Liverpool 'keeper impressed against Watford on Sunday.
The Belgian stopper has often come in for criticism at Anfield, with a series of high profile errors during his time disappointing the Anfield faithful.
Indeed, there have been persistent rumours about his future as the Reds' number one as the club have been continually linked with other goalkeepers this season.
However he has proved his worth on several occasions this campaign alone, and did so again last weekend to superbly deny Odion Ighalo as his side were just 1-0 ahead.
And Allen was keen to praise him, saying his teammate has showm how important he is to them in recent games.
"I think a lot of credit has to go to Simon," he told Liverpoolfc.com.
"[He made] a great save at 1-0 and it allowed us to go on and get the second goal. We were comfortable from there on in. In recent games he's pulled off some great saves and I think he's shown how important he is to us."
There is no denying Mignolet has the quality, and he has shown that since Jurgen Klopp took charge.
In his defence he has often had to work behind less than stellar defences during his time at Liverpool and that has often contributed to his struggles.
With Klopp expected to strengthen that area this summer, perhaps he will stick by his current number one in the long term.
