The Arsenal midfielder is back fit and competing for a place.
The midfielder has missed the majority of this season as he battled back from his latest long-term injury.
However, he is back fit now and has featured in Arsenal’s last two games as he steps up his return to full fitness.
He is desperate to prove himself and earn a place in England’s squad for Euro 2016 in France this summer.
All indications are that manager Roy Hodgson is keen to take him too, and Murphy says that is because he has he X-Factor the other midfielders don’t.
“He’s got things that no other midfielder in our squad possesses,” he told Match of the Day 2.
“None of them have his natural ability to go past people and be positive with the ball as often as he is. He’s got that X-Factor, that’s why Roy will take a risk.”
There is no denying the quality Jack Wilshere offers when he is at the top of his game, but keeping him fit has been a major issue.
Indeed, it is the big question Hodgson must ask himself, can he afford to use spaces in the squad on players who may get injured easily?
It is a same debate about striker Daniel Sturridge and whether both make it in remains to be seen.
