Robbie Savage predicts Brighton v Sheffield Wednesday tie

Brighton & Hove Albion and Sheffield Wednesday will face each other in the Championship playoff semi-finals.

Former Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage predicted on the BBC 606 5 live show on Saturday evening (May 7) that Brighton & Hove Albion will win against Sheffield Wednesday.

Brighton and Wednesday will face each other in the Championship playoffs semi-finals this month.

The first leg of the tie will be held at the Hillsborough Stadium on Friday evening, with the second leg to be played at the American Express Community Stadium next Monday evening.

Savage believes that Brighton will get the better of Wednesday over two legs and will progress to the final of the Championship playoffs.

“I think Brighton will beat Sheffield Wednesday in the semi-final,” said the former Wales international on the BBC 606 5 live show on Saturday evening (May 7).

Brighton finished third in the ‘regular’ Championship season, while Wednesday ended up sixth.

There was a gap of 15 points between the two sides, and that shows the difference between the Seagulls and the Owls.

Chris Hughton’s side will head into the playoff tie against Wednesday as favourites, but in knockout games, anything is possible.

If the Owls are able to win the first leg by a two-goal margin at home, then they should progress to the playoff final.
