West Ham are reportedly keen on Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi.

According to a report from The Mirror, Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has asked Manuel Lanzini about life at West Ham United ahead of a possible move to East London.

Icardi, 23, was formerly on the books with Barcelona before heading to Sampdoria in 2011, and after 11 goals in 33 games, he was snapped up by Inter Milan.

The Argentinian hitman has impressed at the San Siro, smashing 52 goals in 102 games to give him a record of better than one goal ever two games.

A top goal poacher with one Argentina cap and great potential to get even better, Icardi will attract interest during this summer's transfer window - and West Ham are a surprise suitor.

The Mirror report that West Ham, who are in the market for a top striker this summer, are keen to splash the cash on Icardi as they head to the Olympic Stadium.

Intriguingly, it's claimed that Icardi has already spoken to his compatriot and West Ham star Manuel Lanzini about life under Slaven Bilic, showing that Icardi is at least considering a move to East London this summer.

The Mirror also recently reported that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been interested in signing Icardi this season, and given their standing as top Premier League clubs, the Hammers may well need Lanzini to persuade Icardi to join him.

Landing Icardi would be a huge coup for West Ham, and if Lanzini can convince him to join the Hammers, they could end up making a signing on the level of Dimitri Payet, who has starred at Upton Park since signing from Marseille last summer.
