Report: Aston Villa scout 24-year-old with links to Nigel Pearson

Villa Park

Tino-Sven Susic is also reported target for Scottish champions Celtic.

Aston Villa scouts watched Bosnian midfielder Tino-Sven Susic on Sunday, the Daily Mail reports.

Susic played the full match as Hajduk Split were beaten 2-0 at home to Inter Zapresic.

However, the 24-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 26 league outings.

And Villa's interest in the Bosnia international could be a hint towards the identity of their new manager, with the report claiming that Nigel Pearson wanted him at Leicester City in 2015.

Villa parted company with Remi Garde in March and the Mail states Pearson is the club's number 1 choice to replace the Frenchman.

The 52-year-old is said to have held talks with the Villains, whose relegation to the Championship has long been confirmed.

However, the report adds that Middlesbrough's promotion could derail Villa's hopes, with the Teesiders keen to appoint their former captain if Aitor Karanka departs.

Celtic have also been linked with Pearson, as well as Susic, who is under contract at Hajduk until 2018.

The Scottish Sun reported last month that the former Standard Liege youth player would cost in the region of £2.5 million.
