Rangers boss Mark Warburton insists cup final preparation will not get in way of transfer business

The Scottish Championship side play Hibernian later this month.

Mark Warburton has told Rangers' official website that their cup final preparations will not get in the way of their transfer plans.

The Gers meet Hibernian at Hampden Park later this month in the Scottish Cup, but with just short of three weeks between their last Scottish Championship game of the season and the final, Warburton has insisted that they would still be giving some attention to their preparations for their top flight return.

"No, the works going on, whenever it happens it happens," he told the club's official website when asked whether cup final preparation has meant that transfer plans have had to be put on hold for the time-being.

"Obviously the focus will be on the Cup final but that doesn't mean we can't multitask, my wife keeps telling me! But we have to multitask and we have to make sure that the recruitment angle is really focused upon."

With the late finish to the season and the European Championships meaning that the Light Blues will have less time to solely concentrate on bolstering their squad, Warburton is surely making the right decision to spend some time now looking at potential targets.

With the Football League season in England only just coming to an end - though the play-offs are still to take place - Warburton and his recruitment team at Ibrox have had a head start on any rivals for possible targets as they have been able to weigh up a potential move and then approach the respective club as soon as their season draws to a close.

And with the Gers' season ending in somewhat disappointing fashion, news of new signings will undoubtedly provide the squad with a massive lift ahead of the final that may help them put their four-match winless run behind them.
