Eddie Gray said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, May 6) that Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt has not progressed as much as he would have liked him to this season.
The Leeds legend suggested that the 21-year-old was better during the 2014-15 campaign that he was this season.
“Previous to this season, the star of the young players was Alex Mowatt,” said the former Scotland international on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, May 6). “He has not progressed this season as much as I would have liked him to progress.”
Mowatt scored nine goals and created 48 chances in 38 Championship appearances for Leeds during the 2014-15 campaign.
The youngster had a pass accuracy of 82% and a shot accuracy of 51%, and won 20 headers, 17 dribbles and 43 tackles.
The former England Under-20 international has scored two goals and created 28 chances in 33 league matches for the West Yorkshire outfit this season.
Mowatt has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 48%, and has won 17 headers, 12 dribbles and 21 tackles.
Leeds finished the 2015-16 Championship campaign in 13th place with 59 points from 46 matches.
