Leeds drew 1-1 away at Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds United ended the 2015/16 Championship season with a 1-1 draw away at Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

The Whites took the lead at Deepdale as Chris Wood smashed home from the penalty spot after Luke Murphy had been brought down by goalkeeper Chris Kirlkand, but a terrible error from Scott Wootton handed Jordan Hugill the chance to score a last-gasp equaliser for Preston.

It means that Leeds finish the season in 13th place in the table, as QPR's 1-0 win over Bristol City robbed Leeds of a top-half finish under Steve Evans.

The Scot's future is still up in the air, but many fans expect chairman Massimo Cellino to let Evans go this summer and build a new Leeds setup for next season.

After the final whistle against Preston, a number of Leeds players took to Twitter to comment on both the result and the season in general, with most of them praising the Leeds supporters who have followed the club up and down the country all season.

Goalkeepers Marco Silvestri and Bailey Peacock-Farrell both thanked the fans for their efforts this season, as did left back Charlie Taylor and centre half Liam Cooper.

Young right back Lewie Coyle reflected on a great season on a personal level having emerged into the first team, whilst Lewis Cook and Stuart Dallas both looked towards coming back stronger next season.

Finally, teenage midfielder Ronaldo Vieira, who made his Leeds debut as a substitute against Preston, admitted that he couldn't even describe his emotions after not only making his first appearance but also signing his first professional deal for the club earlier this week.
