The midfielder has been on loan at the Yorkshire club this season.

Huddersfield Town played their final game of the season yesterday at the John Smith’s Stadium – but things did not go according to plan.

The Terriers were thrashed 5-1 by Brentford with goals from Sergi Canos, Lasse Vibe and Jonathan Swift – as well as a brace from Scott Hogan – saw Huddersfield off.

Huddersfield’s goal came from Nottingham Forest loanee Jamie Paterson.

It was his eighth goal for the club this season and after the game he was tweeting Huddersfield fans for what might have been a final appearance for the Yorkshire club:

He is of course still a Forest-owned player and could return to the club in the summer – probably depending on who becomes the club’s permanent manager.

He tweeted two Nottingham Forest players after the game.

Forest beat MK Dons yesterday with two fan favourites in Chris Cohen and Britt Assombalonga scoring – both players having spent a large part of the past two years out injured.

Paterson had this message:

Now Forest fans will be waiting to see whether Paterson, who has impressed at Huddersfield, will be playing alongside the Forest pair next season.
