Ian Wright discusses Roberto Martinez's future at Everton

Everton were beaten 3-1 by Leicester City in their most recent outing.

Ian Wright has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on 7th May, that he is worried for Roberto Martinez’s future at Everton.

Martinez has been put under increasing pressure at Goodison Park recently, with fans actively calling for him to be sacked.

Everton have badly underperformed this season and Martinez has had to take most of the blame.

The Toffees were well below par once again in their most recent outing, as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against Leicester.

And Wright was worried for Martinez’s future, when he was asked whether the Spaniard would keep his job.

“I’m not sure,” he said. “I do worry for him because the fans seem to have gone totally the other way.”

Everton were absolutely abysmal against Leicester, and they struggled to make any impression on the match.

Indeed, the scoreline could have been heavier had Leicester been slightly more ruthless.

And Kevin Kilbane, who was also speaking on Match of the Day, slated his former side’s performance.

“They were totally unacceptable again today,” the ex Republic of Ireland international said. “They have faced 68 shots in the last two away games. Through this season and last season it’s been very poor.”

Everton’s defeat to Swansea has seen them drop down into 12th place in the Premier League standings.
