Arsenal legend Ian Wright said on the Match of the Day show on BBC One on Saturday night (broadcast from 10:30pm, May 7) that West Ham United were terrible against Swansea City.
West Ham slumped to a surprise 4-1 defeat to Swansea at home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
With the Swans having nothing to play for and the Hammers aiming to finish in the top four, the London outfit were expected by many to pick up all three points from the encounter at the Boleyn Ground.
However, the Welsh outfit registered a comfortable 4-1 victory, with West Ham’s performance on the day one of their worst of the season.
Former Arsenal striker Wright was unimpressed with the West Ham players’ display and described their performance as “terrible.”
“It was a terrible, terrible performance,” said the former England international on the Match of the Day show on BBC One on Saturday night (broadcast from 10:30pm, May 7). “It was an odd performance from them today.”
West Ham were truly woeful against Swansea, and the defeat means that the London outfit will not finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
Slaven Bilic’s side will be aiming to return to winning ways on Tuesday evening when they take on Manchester United at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League.
