The Scottish boss has had a strained relationship with supporters of the Midlands club, but he did thank them for their backing.
"Thank you [for your support],” the Scottish boss said.
“Hopefully this wonderful club will be back up in the Premier League very quickly.
"They need the fans, the fans are the lifeblood of the club, and they are outstanding. They will definitely have their part to play next year in getting the team back to where they should be.”

The Midlands side ended a run of 11 straight defeats, by picking up a point against Newcastle United.
Nigel Pearson is now the favourite to take over from Black for next season.
Villa's final match of the season comes against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
