Eric Black's response when asked: What's your message to Aston Villa fans

Aston Villa are currently stuck at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Eric Black has thanked Aston Villa’s supporters on Sky Sports, when asked to give them a parting message.

Black looks set to leave Villa at the end of the season, and if he does he will have taken charge of a match at Villa Park for the last time.

The Scottish boss has had a strained relationship with supporters of the Midlands club, but he did thank them for their backing.

"Thank you [for your support],” the Scottish boss said.

“Hopefully this wonderful club will be back up in the Premier League very quickly.

"They need the fans, the fans are the lifeblood of the club, and they are outstanding. They will definitely have their part to play next year in getting the team back to where they should be.”

Villa supporters have endured a terrible campaign, where their side has been starved of success.

The Claret and Blues have won just three matches all season, and they are stuck on just 17 points.

Villa have looked doomed for a prolonged period of time, but they did at least salvage some pride yesterday.

The Midlands side ended a run of 11 straight defeats, by picking up a point against Newcastle United.

Nigel Pearson is now the favourite to take over from Black for next season.

Villa's final match of the season comes against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
