Aston Villa caretaker Eric Black got some serious stick for playing the unpopular player at the back.
Aston Villa took on Newcastle United yesterday in the Premier League and picked up what has become a rare point in their woeful season.
Plenty of players at the club have become incredible unpopular during this campaign but perhaps none more so than Leandro Bacuna.
His poor performances and body language have not helped his cause as the Villa fans took an almost universal dislike to the player.
The fans have also not been impressed with the management of Eric Black in his role as caretaker boss.
Today the two combined to really perplex the Aston Villa fans – as the Curacao international, formerly a right-winger, started as one of a trio of centre-halves.
The move had Aston Villa fans up in arms on Twitter wondering what possessed Black to play Bacuna in the position but it certainly amused the Villa faithful – who have had to develop a fairly good sense of humour this season.
The most amusing thing, despite the interesting utilisation of Bacuna, is that Villa actually kept a clean sheet – their first since a 2-0 win against Norwich City in February.
Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter…
Well done to Leicester and particularly Marc Albrighton who Villa deemed not good enough for a new contract. We now have Bacuna #avfc— Rory Gilsenan (@rorygils6) May 7, 2016
Leandro Bacuna is playing centre half, officially completing the Paul Warhurst Challenge of playing every position... badly #avfc— Alex Bullivant (@Bully_eleven) May 7, 2016
