The agent of Ajax boss Frank de Boer has admitted that his client would love to become manager of Everton, as quoted by The Mirror.
Ajax went into today's game with De Graafschap level on points with second placed PSV Eindhoven, but their superior goal difference meant that a win would hand them the title.
However, a 0-0 draw against the Eredivisie's second-bottom club handed PSV the title for the second year in a row, as they beat PEC Zwolle 3-1 to clinch the title again.
Today's events will now shine a light on the future of manager Frank de Boer, who has been linked with a host of big jobs during his time as Ajax boss.
The former Barcelona and Netherlands defender won the Eredivisie title four years in a row between 2011 and 2014, and many have expected him to move on to a new challenge away from the Amsterdam giants.
The 45-year-old's name has been mentioned for the Everton job, with their boss Roberto Martinez in danger of losing his job after a hugely underwhelming season at Goodison Park.
De Boer has the reputation and record that Everton fans may look for, and the man himself could be interested in taking the job should Martinez be sacked this summer.
Agent Guido Albers, as quoted by The Mirror, has revealed that De Boer would 'love' to manager Everton or Valencia, and these comments could put the ex-Rangers man right in contention as a possible replacement for Martinez, with the Toffees board no doubt made aware of Albers' admission.
"He would love to join a club like Everton or Valencia," said Albers. "It’s all about the right philosophy and how they play football. That is what Frank is looking for," he added.
