Sturridge has already proven himself, claims Liverpool teammate Mignolet

The striker's future at Liverpool in uncertain at present.

Daniel Sturridge has already proved himself at Liverpool, teammate Simon Mignolet has told talkSPORT.

The striker is facing an uncertain future at Anfield having fallen out of favour under Jurgen Klopp in recent months.

He has found himself on the bench, while Divock Origi has been the German’s preferred number one on several occasions.

That has seen Sturridge on the bench, a position many believe he would not be happy with long-term.

There have been suggestions that he has failed to prove himself to his manager, but Mignolet says he has already done that over the years.

“Studge [Sturridge] has proven over the years what type of goal threat he’s got, and he showed that again [against Villarreal],” he told  talkSPORT.

“He keeps his head down, and the only thing he does is show on the field with his goals what he can do. You need someone like that in your team; goals change games.”

This summer certainly appears as if it will be an interesting one for Sturridge’s future at Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to be busy in the transfer window and if another striker is among those that come in, that will likely be the end for Sturridge.

If the Reds do decide to sell him, there is likely to be a long line of players looking to secure his signature.

Indeed, that could be a factor that stops them deciding upon a sale as they would loathe to see him starring for somebody else, especially in the Premier League.
