The Newcastle United players were training on Friday ahead of this weekend’s Premier League match against Aston Villa.
Newcastle will take on already relegated Villa away from home at Villa Park in the league this afternoon.
The Magpies will head into the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
Rafael Benitez’s side are in good form at the moment and currently find themselves outside the relegation zone.
The Newcastle players were training hard on Friday, and among those who attended the session was Cheick Tiote (see photos below).
Tiote has been a key player in the Magpies’ recent run of good form and has been part a double pivot in midfield.
The Ivory Coast international defensive midfielder was recently praised by Newcastle manager Benitez.
“When I came he was injured,” the Spaniard told The Chronicle about Tiote. “Then after one week he was training and, since then, every single training session has been impressive.
“He’s been doing really well and he is very, very competitive. It’s what you see in the games; in the training sessions it’s exactly the same.”
Tim Krul also attended Newcastle’s training session on Friday even though he is injured at the moment (see photo above).
The 28-year-old Netherlands international goalkeeper suffered a cruciate ligament injury back in October and will not return to competitive action until next season.
