Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson raved about Liverpool midfielder James Milner on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, May 7).
Merson praised the 30-year-old former Manchester City midfielder for his consistency and willingness to work hard for the team.
“He is one of those players who is 7 out of 10 every week,” said Merson about Milner on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, May 7).
“He always wants to get on the ball, he is always full of energy. I can’t talk highly enough of this bloke.”
Milner left former Premier League champions City at the end of the 2014-15 season and joined Liverpool in the summer of 2015.
The 30-year-old former Leeds United and Newcastle United midfielder was on the books of the Citizens for five years, but he did not always play regularly.
The Englishman has established himself as an important player for Liverpool and is flourishing under manager Jurgen Klopp.
Milner has scored five goals and created 59 chances in 27 Premier League matches for Liverpool this season.
The midfielder has a pass accuracy of 77% and a shot accuracy of 46%, and has won 27 headers, 19 dribbles and 52 tackles.
The England international has scored two goals and created 30 chances in 11 Europa League matches for Liverpool this campaign.
