Former Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough striker Mido has backed Eric Black as permanent Aston Villa manager on social networking site Twitter.
Aston Villa are currently without a long-term manager after their decision to sack Remi Garde back in March.
Since then, there has been fierce debate about who should replace him, with many believing they need an experienced British boss.
Former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson appears to be the favourite at present, while the likes of Mick McCarthy and David Moyes have also been mentioned.
Mido though, believes that Black should be given the role permanently, having been impressed by him when they worked together at Wigan.
I believe Eric Black deserves a permanent Job at Villa next season as their Manager one of the best Coaches that I v ever worked with #Class— Mido (@midoahm) May 6, 2016
Who ends up as Villa manager remains to be seen, with a number of managers sure to be interested.
Pearson would be a smart move given he has not only worked in the Championship already, but knows how to get out of the division.
What is undeniable is that the club cannot afford to get it wrong as their poor choice of managers over the last decade has played a major part in their fall this season.
