Mesut Ozil responds to exit rumours; claims he is happy at Arsenal

Arsenal's German star claims he is happy in London.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has responded to rumours that he could leave the Gunners by saying he is very happy at the Emirates, as reported by the Mirror via French magazine Surface.

The German World Cup winner started the season in superb form, registering 16 assists in the first half of the campaign, but as Arsenal's Premier League challenge deteriorated, so too did the performances of Özil. He insists however that he is very happy in North London, but at the same time he refused to rule out a move in the future:

“I am under contract with Arsenal and I am very happy to be here now. I do not think about the future, I just think my current situation. I have goals for Arsenal. In the future you can never know in football.”

The former Real Madrid man has chalked up 18 assists this season, and is just two short of equalling Thierry Henry's Premier League record of 20.

He has found himself the target for harsh criticism following his dip in form in the second half of the season, however, with his work ethic being heavily scrutinised by pundits.

Arsenal's remaining two games see them head to the Etihad to take on Manchester City tomorrow, before they host Aston Villa on the final day of the season.

One win from those two games would guarantee a top four finish for the 19th consecutive season, whilst two wins will be needed to put pressure on Tottenham Hotspur above them in the table.
