David Ginola spoke highly of Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 6).
The former Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur star has been impressed with the difference that Townsend has been making for the Magpies in recent weeks.
“I was expecting one player to do well because he has got plenty of talent: Andros Townsend,” said Ginola on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 6).
“Finally he shows me what I want to see from him more often, being able to take the game in his feet and just make a difference.”
Townsend has scored four goals and created 21 chances in 11 Premier League appearances for Newcastle this season.
The England international winger has a pass accuracy of 79% and a shot accuracy of 80%, and has won 21 dribbles and 21 tackles.
Newcastle are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with 33 points from 36 matches.
The Magpies are still in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, but their recent form and performances have been encouraging.
Rafael Benitez’s side will take on already relegated Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League this afternoon.
