There are still questions about the Liverpool striker's long-term fitness.
The Reds striker has endured another frustrating year as he missed the majority of the beginning of the campaign through injury.
He has returned in the second half though, and remained fit throughout, showcasing his goalscoring ability week in week out.
That was on show in midweek as he was the star man Liverpool’s Europa League semi final victory over Villarreal.
There are still lingering doubts over his fitness given his injury record in recent years, but Sturridge has insisted this is the fittest he has ever been in his time at Anfield.
“There is no doubt this is the fittest I’ve felt,” he told liverpoolfc.com.
“It’s a few months since I have been back and I haven’t even had a day off. When the other boys have had days off, I have been in.”
While Sturridge has moved to expel that major doubt about him, there are still questions over whether he will remain at Liverpool this summer.
He has found himself on the bench in recent months, as manager Jurgen Klopp has opted to go with Divock Origi as his starting striker instead.
The Belgian has appeared to be a better fit into the German’s high pressing, high tempo style and it will be interesting to see if Sturridge will be content with the role he currently has long-term.
