Rangers Rossiter deal would leave potential Celtic boss Rodgers gutted

Rangers have been linked to Liverpool's Jordan Rossiter.

Rangers have been linked with signing Liverpool midfield prospect Jordan Rossiter, The Mail reports.

Rossiter is a promising prospect who has already featured for the Reds' first team, and if they can pull off a deal, it would leave a potential manager of their rivals Celtic frustrated, gutted even.

Brendan Rodgers is regarded among the favourites for the Celtic job according to Oddschecker, and has even expressed an interest in the 'iconic' position, The Guardian reported.

Rodgers was the manager who handed Rossiter a chance at Liverpool, just this past season, and it is only due to the Northern Irishman's exit and Jurgen Klopp's lack of faith in him that he is considering leaving.

Rodgers selected Rossiter to start in Europa League matches, and even brought him on in a tight Premier League draw away to Arsenal.

He told The BBC he felt Rossiter had the personality to succeed at Liverpool and was impressed with the teenager's performances.

Now if Rodgers sees Rossiter fly the Liverpool nest to sign for the team he could be doing battle with, he will view it as most unfortunate.

Rossiter would not be a short term buy, but a player Rangers will hope will star for them for many seasons, potentially going head to head with Rodgers' Celtic year after year.

It will be up to the player to prove he can live up to his potential, while Rodgers will try to unearth his own talents perhaps from Celtic's academy in response.
