Player ratings: Liverpool produce when it matters to make it through to Europa League final

Liverpool made it through to the Europa League final, beating Villarreal 3-1 on aggregate.

Liverpool made relatively light work of overturning a one-goal deficit to make it through to the final of the Europa League, winning 3-0 on the night.

A fast start was required from the Reds and they got exactly that as they levelled the tie in the seventh minute courtesy of a Bruno Soriano.

The Reds continued to threaten as Villarreal seemed to have had the life scared out of them, as they were careless in possession and Liverpool seemed more and more buoyed about it.

They could have had more before half time, but the Reds had to wait until the second half before Daniel Sturridge got on the scoresheet to put the Reds in front overall.

It was to go from bad to worse for the visitors as they saw Victor Ruiz being sent off for two bookable offences. Adam Lallana secured Liverpool's passage to Basel from close range.

The difference between the two performances from Liverpool from either leg were like chalk and cheese, they were right at it from the first whistle at Anfield, and put on a fine team performance. Here's how they rated:

Simon Mignolet - Terrific and crucial save early on which was crucial given how the tie panned out from there on in. Relatively trouble free night, and was actually calm behind the back four - 7

Nathaniel Clyne - Constantly provided an effective threat on the right flank, and dealt with his defensive duties very well. His booking seemed harsh - 7

Dejan Lovren - On two or three occasions he came up with some crucial challenges when Villarreal showed a threat to get in and behind, seemed to relish any battle that came his way. A fine defensive display - 9

Kolo Toure - He seemed to relish coming up against Roberto Soldado, a victory for him when the ex-Tottenham man was withdrawn. Great dancing to delay the goalkeeper from quick distribution in the first half, a great partner for Lovren - 8

Alberto Moreno - There were a couple of strange Moreno-esque moments from the Spaniard but he provided that option going forward - 7

Emre Can - Pleasantly surprised at how quickly up to speed he was. Liverpool have missed his drive of late but it was there tonight, and he covered so much ground. Massive plus for the Reds that he's back in the side - 8

James Milner - A wonderful display in central midfield. Tireless worker, could've got on the scoresheet but provided plenty of opportunities for his teammates - 8

Philippe Coutinho - Quiter than other players but had an effect. Thought his pressing was very effective - 7

Adam Lallana - Tireless worker, deserved his goal and could've had more - 8

Roberto Firmino - Big role in the opener, huge influence on Liverpool's attacking play and kept finding himself in good positions - 8

Daniel Sturridge - On first look I have no idea if he got the final touch, scoreboard gave it to him, but he had a role in it at least. Terrific anticipation for his second half strike, did the work for Lallana's goal. Even thinking of letting him go would be criminal. Showed just how good he is in the Reds' biggest game of the season - 9

Joe Allen - Thought he used the ball very well, but limited impact. It was the right sub at the right time from the manager. He could've even had a goal, and it seems cruel that I'm only giving him this mark, as the starting XI did the damage - 6

Christian Benteke - Wasn't enough time for him to really make his mark on the game, but he got in a European semi-final that Liverpool won, so he should be delighted - N/A

Lucas Leiva - Deserved his appearance after being aggressively manhandled by Klopp to go and bark some instructions to Moreno - N/A
