Outgoing Celtic boss Ronny Deila heaps praise on Brendan Rodgers

Celtic Stands

The former Liverpool boss has been linked with taking over at the Scottish Premiership side.

Ronny Deila has seemingly confirmed that he thinks that Brendan Rodgers should replace him as Celtic manager when he steps down at the end of the season, STV reports.

The former Liverpool manager is one of the favourites to succeed the Norwegian at Parkhead, and Reds fan Deila believes that he has all the characteristics required to do a great job with the Hoops.

"He's a modern manager," he told STV.

"He works a lot with processes and talks a lot with his players. He's very good on the training pitch and he's very determined and very clear in what he wants.

"He is a very nice human being. He did a good job at Liverpool and a fantastic job at Swansea. I have only positive things to say about him."

While Rodgers' tenure at Anfield ended disappointingly, he did get to experience a title race during his time on Merseyside, during which he took the club as close as they have ever been to winning the league crown since the beginning of the Premier League era.

And while he was ultimately unable to take the club across the line, he certainly deserves a lot of credit for that achievement as no-one would have predicted at the start of that season that Liverpool would be leading the way so close to the end of the campaign.

With Celtic about to clinch their fifth league crown in a row, and thus, be favourites to repeat the feat next season, Rodgers may be able to use his experience of competing near the top to help the Bhoys see off any challengers and perhaps also do something that they have been unable to do during Deila's time at the club, and that's make an impression in the Champions League.
