Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Nice star Hatem Ben Arfa in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking Hatem Ben Arfa with a move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Ben Arfa is on the books of Nice at the moment and has a contract with the French club until the end of the season.

French publication L'Equipe reported on Friday that the former Newcastle attacker was in advanced negotiations with Barcelona. Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere later confirmed that to France 3.

The 29-year-old winger has been in brilliant form for Nice this season and has been one of the best players in Ligue 1.

The former Marseille man has scored 17 goals and created 30 chances in 32 league matches for Nice this campaign.

Ben Arfa has a pass accuracy of 80% and a shot accuracy of 52%, and has won seven headers, 134 dribbles and 15 tackles.

The France international winger initially joined the Magpies on loan from Marseille in 2010 before making the deal permanent.

During his time at St. James’ Park, the attacker had injury problems and also did not have consistency.

Under then Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, Ben Arfa did not always play regularly and was sent out on loan to Hull in 2014.

It is remarkable how the former Lyon man has revitalised himself at Nice, and now Barcelona are chasing him.

Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on Barcelona’s reported interest in Ben Arfa.
