Teenager Ronaldo Vieira has signed a professional contract with Leeds.
Leeds United confirmed on their official website on Thursday evening that youngster Ronaldo Vieira has penned a professional contract with the club.
The Whites have earned a reputation for developing young players over the years, with Matthew Kilgallon, James Milner, Aaron Lennon, Scott Carson, Jonny Howson, Danny Rose and Fabian Delph all passing through the Leeds United academy.
More recently, Leeds have brought through players like Sam Byram, Charlie Taylor, Lewis Cook and Alex Mowatt, and continuing that tradition is key for the club to move forward in the Championship.
Now, Leeds have confirmed that teenager Ronaldo Vieira has signed his first professional contract with the club, signing a two-year deal at Elland Road.
The 17-year-old, born in Guinea Bissau, has earned rave reviews for his performances in the youth setup at Elland Road, and has now committed his future to the club under 2018.
Fans took to Twitter to react to Vieira's deal, and jokes about the pressure on him due to his brilliant name - some sort of amalgamation of Cristiano Ronaldo and Patrick Vieira, two of the Premier League's greatest ever players.
On a serious note though, supporters hope that the midfielder follows the lead of fellow teenager Lewis Cook, who has starred for Leeds ever since breaking into the first team.
Fans also want to see fellow youngster Mallik Wilks sign a new deal next, with supporters keen to see another crop of talented youngsters come through after Vieira signed his deal.
