The goalkeeper made a crucial penalty save against Crystal Palace last weekend.
The goalkeeper has come in and impressed in recent weeks, after the Magpies lost Rob Elliot to a long-term injury in the international break.
Last week saw him make his biggest contribution yet as he saved a Yohan Cabaye penalty against Crystal Palace to ensure his side were 1-0 winners.
That result saw them move out of the relegation zone in a huge boost to their survival hopes.
After such a big moment, the Newcastle fans have already immortalised Darlow with a song of his own, to the theme of Spandau Ballet’s Gold, and he says it is a real positive.
“That is a real positive for me obviously,” he told the Chronicle.
“It feels like it has been a long time coming for me but I have worked hard throughout my career.”
“Hopefully this is just the beginning and I can kick on and really go and establish myself here.”
Darlow and his Newcastle teammates will now be hoping they can avoid relegation this season.
The race for survival is promising to go right down to the wire, with them sitting just a point ahead of Sunderland in 18th and two ahead of Norwich City in 19th.
Both of those have a game in hand though, and the Magpies must hope that luck is on their side to keep them up.
