Guillem Balague suggests not all Valencia fans want Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores back

The Watford manager looks like being on his way out of the club.

It is looking increasingly likely that Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores might be losing his job in the summer – despite a good season with The Hornets.

The Spaniard has guided Watford to Premier League safety and an FA Cup semi-final but suffered a dip in form in the second half of the season which appears to have the Pozzo family concerned.

He is now being linked with a move back to Spain to manage his former club Valencia.

Sky Sports Spanish football expert has spoken about that speculation today (06/05/16). He told Sky Sports News HQ that Flores would not be a universally popular choice at the Mestalla:

“My understanding is that nothing has been decided yet.

“It looks like they want a big name, Quique would fill that void.

“What is fascinating is that not all of the Valencia fans want Quique to come back which is amazing, because you look what he did for the team, he is certainly good enough.

“But, no decision made yet.”

Pako Ayestaran is currently managing the club until the end of the season after the sacking of Gary Neville in March.

Flores previously managed Valencia between 2005 and 2007 and guided the club to the Champions League quarter finals and top four finishes during his time at the club. The Watford boss also played for the club as a right-back for ten years.

Flores has done a good job at Watford this season but it has become increasingly clear that the club’s owners are seemingly intent on replacing him in the summer.
