Emre Can was at the heart of Liverpool's midfield that progressed to the final of the Europa League, where they will face Sevilla.

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has issued a bullish message about the Reds' chances of winning the Europa League after they made it through to the final following a semi-final victory over Villarreal.

The Reds overturned a one-goal deficit from the first leg - winning the return game 3-0 at Anfield - to reach their second cup final of the season, and their first European final since 2007, where they will meet holders and four-time winners Sevilla.

The German who returned from injury for the game, told the Liverpool Echo: “Sevilla have won the last two finals but if we play to the level that we can then we will win the game.

“There’s a big reward. We want to win the trophy and we want to play in the Champions League next season.”

It will not be easy getting the better of a side that has such a wonderful pedigree in the competition, and have in fact won the competition on more occasions than any other club.

But Liverpool have shown they can beat the best sides in the competition. They knocked out fierce rivals Manchester United, and completed a remarkable turnaround against Borussia Dortmund - who were widely seen as the best team in the competition.

The Reds will certainly head into the final with no fear, and keen to pick up silverware after coming so close to winning the League Cup earlier on in the season - where they missed out to Manchester City on penalties.

However, it's a one-off game at a neutral venue and they shouldn't take anything for granted. One doubts that Jurgen Klopp will allow their players to be complacent in any sort of way.
