The Frenchman has been the star of the show for West Ham this season.
The France star has been in sensational form for the Hammers this season, with numerous impressive performances under his belt.
Indeed, he has arguably been one of the singings of the summer, with many clubs left wondering how they missed out on him.
His displays have not gone unnoticed by the club’s fans, who this week voted him as their Hammer of the Year.
He has already been put in the same bracket as club legends such as Paolo Di Canio, but Payet insists he has some way to go to earning that legendary status.
“I have seen that there are a lot of things with my face - it is really nice, it is really touching," he told L’Equipe.
“I cannot thank them enough. It is something extraordinary, but I don't know if you can talk about being a legend after only a few months.”
"When you know the legends that there are at this club such as Moore, Tevez, Di Canio - It is flattering but I still have a lot to do to arrive even close to their level.”
If Payet does continue to perform how he has this season, there is no denying he will be putting himself up there with the club’s legends.
For now though, he must focus on maintaining his form for the rest of the season as the Hammers hunt down a top four place.
They are currently sixth in the table and five points behind Manchester City, but have a crucial game in hand against Manchester United, and Payet will be crucial to them taking the top four race to the wire.
