Spurs missed out on the Premier League title on Monday evening, after drawing 2-2 with Chelsea, but their season is far from over.
Spurs still have a chance to finish ahead of Arsenal for just the second time in the Premier League era, but they will need to recover quickly from their disappointment of missing out on the title.
Tottenham have two games remaining this campaign - against Southampton and Newcastle United - and they are likely to need to win one to be assured of finishing ahead of Arsenal.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still the favourites to finish in second, but they do have Arsenal putting pressure on them.
However, Gale feels that Spurs will hold off the challenge from their North London rivals.
“Tottenham,” he said, when asked who would finish higher - Tottenham or Arsenal. “I think they deserve to. They have been excellent this season. They blew it a bit against Chelsea, they got wound up. But I thought Spurs were probably the best team this season.”
Tottenham are currently have a three point cushion over Arsene Wenger’s side, who have endured a disappointing season.
Arsenal’s final two fixtures this season come against Manchester City and Aston Villa, and it is likely that they will be required to take maximum points to have any chance of finishing ahead of their local rivals.
