Several youngsters have been handed their Everton debuts this season.
The Blues have long been a club that with give youngsters a chance in the first team, with Ross Barkley and John Stones the notable cases in recent seasons.
They have continued that this season, with Brendan Galloway and Tyias Browning early in the campaign.
More recently the likes of Matthew Pennington, Kieran Dowell, Callum Connolly and Tom Davies have also been given their chance to show their ability in the first team.
And Martinez says their assured displays show that Everton’s youth is being properly prepared for first team football.
“What you’ve seen in the last few weeks is that every player who comes through the system is prepared,” he told evertonfc.com.
“We’ve seen with Callum Connolly, Tom Davies, Matthew Pennington and Kieran Dowell that they are ready and once they’ve been in the first-team environment, they have shown what they can do.”
“They are shown how the team plays and what’s expected of them – and it’s very pleasing to see the talent coming through and helping the team.”
Those aforementioned four players will now be hoping they are given further chances in the first team in the final games of this season.
The Toffees have nothing left to play for this season, so now is a perfect time to give the youth players their chance to shine.
Of them, Pennington and Connolly would be the most confident of seeing game time given the Blues injury problems in defence at present.
