Everton are expected to be active in the summer transfer window.
Everton Roberto Martinez refused to be drawn over whether he had already compiled a list of transfer targets at his press conference today - which was broadcast on the club’s official Youtube channel.
Everton have had a disappointing season, and there is expected to be a great amount of change at Goodison Park over the summer.
However, although Martinez admitted that he was already thinking about the summer transfer window, he would not comment on whether he knows which players he will be targeting.
“After the January window we have been working hard,” he said, when asked whether he had already drawn up a transfer wishlist. “All we have been doing is making sure that from transfer window to transfer window the squad is stronger and more capable.
“I think as a football club we always work in the same manner. When you finish a transfer window you start working and planning for the next one. It’s clear where we want to get and we’re not there yet. We never stop working and pushing.”
Everton are expected to be particularly active in the summer, following the investment of Farhad Moshiri.
The Toffees appear to have more financial power than they have had over recent years, and they are under pressure to show ambition in the transfer market.
Everton have been criticised for not spending enough money in previous years, but an influx of players could arrive over the summer.
The Toffees also face the task fighting to keep hold of some of their stars.
Everton’s failure to secure European football means that speculation is rising over the futures of the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.
