The Belgian limped out of the draw with Chelsea this week.
Tottenham Hotspur’s title hunt came to an end on Monday after the club drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. That result handed the title to Leicester City on a poor night for the club – which also saw several of their players fall foul of the authorities with their behaviour.
There was also the blow regarding Toby Alderweireld’s injury.
The Belgian international came off in the 89th minute hobbling and after the game Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that he had suffered a knee injury.
Of course this would have had Belgian fans worried with the European Championships fast approaching – especially after watching Vincent Kompany limp out of action once again.
However, reports in Belgium are suggesting that Alderweireld’s knee injury is not serious. Het Laatste Nieuws report that the Spurs defender has a stiff knee but will get back into training shortly and is likely to feature before the end of the season.
Spurs fans will be pleased to hear this as the Belgian has been one of their best players this season ever since arriving from Atletico Madrid.
Hopefully he will feature again this season and go on to star for Belgium in France.
