The West Ham teenager captained the under-21s to glory last night.

West Ham United’s under-21 side won the Under-21 Premier League Cup last night – defeating Hull City on penalties thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel.

Of course The Hammers have a great record of producing young talent and the likes of Martin Samuelsen and captain Reece Oxford are already being tipped for a future in the Hammers first-team.

Oxford in particular looks like a future star.

He captained the side to the victory and what was telling about the youngsters’ character was what he did after West Ham secured victory. Before charging off to celebrate with his team-mates Oxford shook the hands of the losing Hull side.

Today he has posted a picture of himself lifting the trophy whilst wearing his captain’s armband:

The 17-year-old, who has already featured 12 times for the West Ham first-team this season, looks like going on to become a future star for the Hammers and considering how well he has led this side it might be he is a future West Ham captain.

Perhaps this picture is a sign of things to come for Oxford at West Ham.
