Micky Quinn claims Liverpool have made a bid for Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze

The Reds are set to make moves for new players in the summer.

Liverpool take on Villarreal in the Europa League this evening and will be hoping to continue their revolution under the management of Jurgen Klopp.

He has transformed the atmosphere around the club recently, with the Europa League triumph against Borussia Dortmund a massive moment for Klopp’s Liverpool.

The fact he has done it without bringing in any of his own players makes it all the more impressive.

In the summer then Klopp will surely be bringing in some of his own players, with recent reports suggesting that he might make a move for Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze.

It was reported by the Liverpool Echo last month that Liverpool want the German World Cup winner, who is struggling for regular football at Bayern – whilst his and Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund are also said to be keen.

Now talkSPORT pundit Micky Quinn has suggested a bid is already on the table. The former Newcastle United striker, himself a Liverpudlian, told talkSPORT today (05/05/16):

“I’ve heard they’re interested in Mario Gotze and that they’ve actually put a bid in on the table. Because he can’t get in the Bayern team. He scored in a World Cup final.”

He also went on to suggest a goalkeeper that Liverpool are keen on:

“Goalkeeper, Timo Horn, the Cologne goalkeeper. I think there is plenty of (potential targets).”

Both would be great signings and Liverpool fans will be particularly excited about the potential signature of Gotze, a player Klopp had playing at his peak during their time together at Dortmund.

Hopefully Liverpool can bring in the player this summer, as Klopp looks to put his stamp on the Liverpool team.
