Michael Ball warns Everton fans about wanting Manuel Pellegrini

The Manchester City boss has been named as potential replacement for Everton manager Roberto Martinez.

Writing on Twitter, former Everton defender Michael Ball has warned Everton fans calling for Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini as their next manager.

The pressure is firmly upon Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park at present, with his side sitting 11th in the table for the second successive year.

That is far below where many believe they should be, with fans calling for him to be replaced before the end of the season.

A number of managers have been mentioned as potential replacements, with Pellegrini among them.

He is set to leave City after they moved to secure Pep Guardiola from Bayern Munich, but Ball says it would not work as he is in the same mould as Martinez.

There is no denying that Martinez could be on the brink at Everton after what has been a disappointing campaign.

Whether they decide to sack him though remains to be seen, with chairman Bill Kenwright so far looking like he will stick by the Spanish boss.

If they do though, Blues fans are sure to demand a big name brought in, and Pellegrini would fill that bracket given the clubs he has managed, despite Ball’s reservations about him.
