Lee Cattermole praises Sunderland's Yann M'Vila

Yann M'Vila has made 37 appearances for Sunderland so far this season.

Lee Cattermole has told the Chronicle that Yann M’Vila has really impressed him during his first season at Sunderland.

M’Vila was brought to the Stadium of Light on loan from Rubin Kazan last summer, and he has become a key part of their first-team.

M’Vila has played 37 times all competitions during his maiden season in English football, and Cattermole admits that he’s been an excellent signing for the Black Cats.

“I’ve been really impressed with M’Vila, I think he’s been great,” the combative central midfielder said. “Just the amount of games he’s played has been the main thing.”

M’Vila’s future at Sunderland is as yet unknown, as his current loan deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

If the Black Cats remain in the top flight it would be a surprise if they did not move to make the move permanent, but without Premier League football convincing the Frenchman to sign up could be difficult.

Cattermole and M’Vila are both likely to be crucial as Sunderland look to avoid the drop this season.

The midfield pair have been key figures in Sunderland’s starting line-up over recent weeks, and their performances have impressive.

The Black Cats have three games remaining this season, and they are currently one point adrift of safety.
