Tottenham Hotspur have had a great season and only recently did they see their Premier League title hopes fall by the wayside.
The team have been in great form this season and look set to finish above their North London rivals Arsenal – which will no doubt please former Spurs captain Ledley King.
The club legend has been following the team closely this season and must be wondering why the Tottenham teams he played in never put in a concerted title challenge.
Speaking to The Turf this week King, who retired a one-club man in 2012, explained the difference between this team and the Tottenham of the past – stating:
“This is the best team that a I’ve seen since I’ve been at the club. It’s a young group of players, but they show so much maturity in their play.
“I think in years gone by we lacked that consistency. This team is strong, well balanced and I think that’s the main difference as to why this team has been able to perform.”
Consistency is certainly something that Spurs under, for example, Harry Redknapp never truly had in abundance whereas the hard work Mauricio Pochettino makes his players conduct in training appears to have them always playing at their highest level.
This season it has not been enough for Spurs.
But with the young talent that Tottenham have in their squad perhaps in a year’s time King will be celebrating a Tottenham Hotspur title win.
