Italian club president confirms Leicester City's Claudio Ranieri wants to sign 24 goal striker Gianluca Lapadula

Leicester City are making plans for next season already.

New Premier League champions Leicester City are already eyeing up new signings for next season.

One potential addition is freescoring striker Gianluca Lapadula, who has been tearing up Italy's Serie B for Pescara.

This season in 37 games he has scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists, and is predictably a player in demand.

Pescara president Daniele Sebastiani told Tuttomercatoweb that Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has already been in touch over a move.

He said: "I received a phone call from Claudio Ranieri some time ago, before Leicester won the Premier League. It was a courtesy call where we talked about football and when he confided that he is following with interest our attacker. No official offer in any case, only an interest. I was very happy with his call and I'm happy for his incredible success."

Quizzed about keeping Lapadula, Sebastiani joked: "I wish I had this situations to deal with every year."

Lapadula's form has helped Pescara to fourth in Serie B, and if he were to leave then he could be their most expensive player sale in years.

Calciomercato has reported that Italian champions Juventus are even showing interest in the 26-year-old, while The Mirror claimed Tottenham and Barcelona are both keen.

Pescara hold the cards regarding negotiating a price with Lapadula under contract until 2019 and the considerable interest in him, but a summer exit looks inevitable one way or another.
