Ian Rush explains his main worry for Liverpool against Villarreal

Liverpool legend Ian Rush says he is worried about overconfidence for the Europa League clash with Villarreal, in comments to Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, broadcast on Talksport on the 5th of May.

Liverpool host Villarreal at Anfield tonight in the second leg of their Europa League semi final.

They are trailing in the tie after a late goal from Marcelino’s side saw them win the first leg 1-0.

There is increased confidence that the Reds will produce another magical night at Anfield, as they did against Borussia Dortmund, and win the game comfortably.

Rush though, is worried about overconfidence and says the tie is not going to be as easy as many are suggesting.

“What worries me a little bit is people are expecting us to win now,” he told talkSPORT.

“You look against Manchester United they could have won four or five, Dortmund was special and now they’re saying we’re only 1-0 down we’re going to win two or three nil.”

“It’s not going to be that easy, they’re a good side and they had a win at the weekend. They’ll be coming full of confidence.”

There is no denying that at 1-0 the tie is far from over and Liverpool have a serious chance of turning things around.

They should underestimate Villarreal at their peril though; with them having secured a top four finish in La Liga this season and a very dangerous team.

Indeed, they have beaten bigger teams than Liverpool this season in Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid and will be keen to add Jurgen Klopp’s side to that list.
