Gary Rowett gives his opinion on Demarai Gray winning the Premier League after just five months at Leicester

The Birmingham City boss admits he is delighted that the youngster is getting game time at the Foxes so soon after moving.

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has admitted that he is delighted to see Demarai Gray become a fully-fledged member of Leicester City's Premier League-winning squad so soon after joining the club, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.

Gray became one of the Football League's hottest properties after a stellar campaign for the Championship club last term in which he scored six goals in 43 appearances, and after impressing again in the first half of the current season the Foxes were persuaded to activate his release clause to bring him to the King Power Stadium in January.

Although he has unsurprisingly failed to hold down a regular starting spot in Claudio Ranieri's side, the 19-year-old has nevertheless played an important bit-part role with 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Rowett believes the move to Leicester has turned out to be perfect for the teenager and says the young star will have found the step up easy due to his attitude and maturity.

The Blues boss said, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail: "Demarai got a move that was his dream move in terms of playing in the Premier League, having a chance to appear - I think if he had gone to one of the perceived top four he wouldn’t have had that opportunity.

"Leicester has been almost a perfect season for him. I am really pleased for him. He came back to the Under-21s game last week which shows what he is all about as a lad. He has gone to what was going to be the Premier League champions yet he comes back to watch his mates play in the Under-21s and he will come straight up into the box and comes and chats to us.

"He is a really humble lad, I think people like that deserve to succeed in the game because he will work hard, do all the right things, listen to people, and he’s exactly the type of young player, in terms of his characteristics, you want to work with day in day out. They make the job such a great job, and an easy job as well, when people want to get better and want to learn."

Gray will be hoping to continue his ascendancy next season by being involved in Leicester's defence of their title on a more regular basis.
