Ayoze Perez says thank you to Newcastle United's fans

Newcastle United are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table.

Ayoze Perez has told the Chronicle that all he can say to Newcastle United fans is thank you.

Newcastle fans have been starved of success in recent times, yet they have continued to back their side.

St. James’ Park has regularly been sold out, while Newcastle supporters have also traveled in large numbers.

And Perez said: “We know they are always behind us. They are why we are still in this because they have helped us.

“It’s really good to have them, it’s important and any team would want their support. We can’t ask anymore.

“We can only say thanks to them and try to win the last two games.”

Newcastle had looked doomed at one stage of the season, but they have shown signs of life in recent weeks.

The Magpies have collected eight points from their last four matches, and they have moved out of the relegation zone.

Newcastle are now in 17th place in the Premier League table, and they have built up a one point advantage over Sunderland.

Rafael Benitez’s impact has been clear, and the Tynesiders have started to look far more solid.

Newcastle could have left it too late, however, as they have just two matches remaining against Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.
