Newcastle are locked in a battle for survival with Sunderland and Norwich City, and they currently sit in the coveted 17th spot.
The Magpies are one point clear of Sunderland, and two clear of Norwich and Sidwell believes that they will be able to protect their advantage.
“If you go on recent form, Newcastle [will stay up],” the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder said.
“They’ve picked up of late. I think, for me, it will stay as it is. Norwich and Sunderland will go down, and Newcastle will be just above the dotted line. I don’t see it changing.”
Both Sunderland and Norwich have a game in hand over Newcastle, but points on board are arguably more valuable at this stage.
Newcastle’s next fixture comes against Aston Villa, where they are expected to pick up another three points.
Rafael Benitez’s side are then due to face Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the season, in what looks set to be a tough test.
Sunderland’s last three matches come against Chelsea, Everton and Watford.
Norwich still have games against Manchester United, Watford and Everton left to play.
